Back on Track! Drillbrush Joins Brayton Laster for Watkins Glen ARCA Race
Drillbrush at the Glen

Last year, Drillbrush visited ARCA Menards Series driver and friend-of-the-brand Brayton Laster at our home track of Watkins Glen to see him tackle the twisty Finger Lakes region road course.

This year, we’re back at the track to cheer Brayton Laster on and spread the word about the Fastest Name in Cleaning! I will be in the pits with the team and we’ll have a small Drillbrush sticker riding along on their #06 machine.

You can watch the race on Fox Sports 2 at 2pm EST and root for Drillbrush Racing alumni Brayton Laster, but if you want to learn more about the driver and team, or get caught up on Laster’s 2025 season thus far, keep reading!

It’s hard to miss Brayton Laster at the race track. Donned in pizza-print bucket hats and crew shirts, Laster is a stand-out character in the ARCA Menards Series. Laster’s a popular figure online, both in the social media space and in online gaming, and his unique “Mom n’ Pop” program has given smaller sponsors and race fans a chance to get their stickers on a race car and support his racing without breaking the bank.

He was one of four drivers we sponsored at the DuQuoin Fairgrounds in 2023 and we also appeared on his car for the 2024 ARCA Daytona attempt with MAN Motorsports.

Last year, Laster ran a limited schedule, picking up opportunities with various teams for select races. In fact, Laster’s run at Watkins Glen last year came together fairly late, with him getting the call to race just a week prior to fill the vacant Fast Track Racing seat.

This year is different, as for the first time, Brayton Laster has a home at Wayne Peterson Racing and is attempting the full 2025 calendar.

Coming into Watkins Glen, Laster is 8th in points after twelve races and third overall in Rookie of the Year contention after Brenden Queen and Isabella Robusto.

Laster has six top 20 finishes this year, with a best finish of 13th at Elko and a solid 15th finish at Lime Rock Park in June, ARCA’s most recent road course outing. Outside of an incident at Daytona and mechanical issues at Berlin, Laster has finished every other race he’s started under power; the best finish rate for the team since 2020.

This Friday, Laster hopes to improve upon a 27th place finish in last year’s event after brake woes ended a promising climb through the field.

Wayne Peterson may be one of the most interesting people to hop in a race car. We’ll list some highlights of his extensive career, but no matter how much we decide to put down, there’s probably another interesting detail you can dig up.

He was a paratrooper and a 27-year veteran of the United States Army Special Forces. He stood guard of John F. Kennedy’s body after his assassination. He acted as a Vietnamese translator for Richard Nixon. He was at The Bay of Pigs Invasion and a part of Operation Eagle Claw.

In racing, he served as a crew member for legends like Lee Petty and Junior Johnson, and has been a longtime owner/driver in ARCA competition. How long? His first start came in 1983 at age 45. His most recent start came in 2021 at age 83, making him the oldest driver to start an ARCA national series race.

Peterson’s cars have been a mainstay of the ARCA series for decades and have been the starting point for many aspiring racers.

How Drillbrush Helps Racers

How Drillbrush Helps Racers

Drillbrush helps make clean up quick for racers, and offers

Our industrial-grade Ultra Stiff 7 inch brushes are perfect for removing dirt from tire treads between heats races, just as the Jessica Powers late model team did above. Even if you’re racing on two-wheels, Drillbrush can help keep dirt bikes clean and the sponsors happy!

Champion Tire and Wheel, who provides tire transport and wheel tolerance checking services for NASCAR race teams, use Drillbrush products to clean tires after race weekends.

Drillbrush products can also help race teams get more out of their tires, as shown by this durometer test Brayton Laster did on his asphalt slicks last year.

And even if you don’t have a race car to clean, Drillbrush has a myriad of automotive scrub brushes to make cleaning your daily driver a breeze!

We’d also like to extend good luck to Brad Smith and Alex Clubb, two drivers who have run Drillbrush sponsorship in the past and are competing this weekend as well.
