Switch Up the Way You Use Drillbrush with These 5 Tricks!
Some Drillbrush Hacks

Drillbrush has a large line of brushes made up of 11 unique brush designs and sizes, each built for a specific type of scrubbing.

Our flagship Original brushes handle corners and contours, while our 4 inch flat brushes handle flat surfaces like countertops and floors. A 2 inch Short brush can be used for spot cleaning and detailing, while a 2 inch Long brush can clean around complex and ornate surfaces like faucets and handles.

We even have brushes tailored to unique applications, like our wheel-shaped Edge brush for grout lines, our cone-shaped corner brush for 90-degree-angled corners, and our 1 inch Long brush for bottles and lug nuts.

Drillbrush has a very versatile line of products, but it goes further than that. What if I told you that some of our brushes have additional cleaning abilities that can be unlocked by mastering some simple techniques?

It’s true! Today, we’ll go over a few unique ways you can use our brushes to clean in ways you never thought possible.

Get Into Grout Lines with a Flat Brush

Get Into Grout Lines with a Flat Brush

By simply tilting the brush, you can hit up stubborn grout lines!

Grout lines can be a pain to clean. Dirt will get wedged in the grooves between tiles and it can be hard to get in there to clean it.

Drillbrush sells a tool specifically made for grout lines; the Edge brush. But if you don’t own one, can’t swap brushes in the middle of a job, or are in a pinch, you can use one of our flat brushes to get a similar effect.

Take a 4 inch or 5 inch flat brush and rather than scrub with the full bristled-face placed flat on the surface, tilt the brush at a 45 degree angle and scrub with the edge of the brush.

This allows users to get into tight grout lines without having to swap brushes; saving you time and getting a satisfactory shine! Some more specific jobs are still better handled by an Edge brush, like grooves in shower door tracks, but simply tilting your flat brushes can easily get the job done!

It even works for our larger flat brushes, like the 7 inch, which is often tilted at such an angle to clear dirt out of racing tires at dirt tracks across the country.

Use an Original on Flat Surfaces for a Unique Effect

Use an Original on Flat Surfaces for a Unique Effect

An Original can be used on flat surfaces like carpet

We just learned that you can use a flat brush on a non-flat surface. But can you use a corner brush on a flat surface? Yes!

The Original is our first brush ever created and has a bullet-shaped design that is useful for getting around corners, contoured surfaces, and rounded areas. But this corner-centric scrubber gains a whole new life on carpet and fabric!

Using the sides of the brush on carpets, rugs, and floor mats can help pull excess dirt and particles out of carpet fibers. The bristles reach down into the fabric and swat away dirt in a sweeping motion, pulling it out of the carpet and out of the way.

One of our most famous demonstrations shows an Original brush being used in this manner against someone using a hand brush. It works so well, you can physically see the jet of dirt being shot out of the carpet from the brush.

This alternate use case was the impetus behind the creation of the Jumbo Original brush. This variant on the Original has long sides for better flat surface scrubbing on carpets, tub walls, and furniture.

The Many Hidden Tricks of a Cone-shaped Corner Brush

The Many Hidden Tricks of a Cone-shaped Corner Brush

The cone-brush in it's normal use case, but those bristles can spread for unique cleaning opportunities!

Our cone-shaped corner brush, one of the newer additions to the Drillbrush family of products, was designed with a very specific purpose; 90-degree corners.

The bristles of this brush are long and cut in a tapered fashion, resulting in a conical shape that fits perfectly in squared-off corners that are too tight for Originals or detail brushes to hit.

But those longer bristles can do something interesting at fast speeds. When spinning quickly, the bristles flare out to create a flat surface, allowing you to use it for some flat surface scrubbing!

The cone-shaped corner brush can also be used for some grout cleaning. Since it can act like a flat brush at higher speeds, the same 45 degree angle trick works in tight grooves, especially in very small grout lines present on some tiled surfaces.

But that’s not all! The longer, flexible bristles of the cone-shaped corner brush can also handle some complex fixture scrubbing in sinks, tubs, and more, similar to a 1 inch or 2 inch Long brush. The flaring bristles can wrap around faucets and similar structures without the brush’s plastic block getting anywhere near the surface!

It shows that even a brush designed with one thing in mind can have a myriad of different talents if you know how to use it!

Grout Cleaning with a 1 inch Brush

Grout Cleaning with a 1 inch Brush

The 1 inch brush can produce mind boggling effects.

Similarly, the 1 inch brush is not a one trick pony either!

This unique product has a 1 inch diameter and features our longest bristles of any brush; 2.5 inches in length. That’s longer than our 7 inch brush!

These extremely long tendril-like bristles are built to flex and bend around complex objects and structures to scrub from all angles. Uses for the 1 inch brush include sink fixtures and faucets, lug nuts and complex auto detailing, and large bottles or jugs.

However, similar to the cone-shaped corner brush, at high speeds the bristles can fan out into a large wheel-shape. This allows it to clean rounded surfaces or get into tight grout lines like the edge brush.

At Drillbrush, even our smallest, most niche tools are versatile enough to punch past their weight!

Use an Ultra Stiff Brush to Remove Chipped Paint

A Black Flat brush is stiff enough to remove chipped paint.

Who says Drillbrush is just for removing dirt? There’s some heavier duty surface removal you can do with our Ultra Stiff brushes.

Drillbrush bristles are non-scratch, meaning the bristles themselves do not cause scratches in surfaces like glass, wood, or porcelain. But our brushes can remove things susceptible to friction, like dirt and stains. This also applies to weathered or cracked surfaces, like old paint and chipped coating.

You wouldn’t want to use Drillbrush to clean a fragile surface like this, but if you want to remove the coating to put down a fresh coat of paint, our Ultra Stiff Black brushes can help!

Ultra Stiff brushes are stiff enough to remove chipped surface paint. We recommend a flat Ultra Stiff brush like the 4 inch or 5 inch, as it's the more efficient way to do it, but an Original-style brush can be used in some circumstances too.

Some surface coating can still stick if the wear is uneven, but Drillbrush can loosen the bulk of the peeling paint and save you some time.
