Which Drillbrush Has the Longest Bristles? A Drillbrush Bristle Length Guide
The most common length of the bristles on Drillbrush Power Scrubbers is around 1 inch. This is the case for many of our popular brushes, like the flat 3 inch, 4 inch, and 5 inch diameter scrubbers, the Mini Original, and the 2 inch Short detailer.
Some brushes like our flagship Original corner-cleaner brush and its bigger Jumbo counterpart have a slightly longer 1.25 inch bristle length.
But that’s not as far as they go! Some of our brushes have even longer bristles for specialized cleaning purposes.
What is the difference between short and long bristle brushes when it comes to cleaning? How are the varying stiffnesses Drillbrush offers affected by bristle length? What is the Drillbrush with the longest bristles and what can it do?
We’ll head down the Drillbrush rabbit hole and learn about the different ways bristle length can change the way you clean!
The Longest Bristles on a Drillbrush Product is…
Drillbrush 1 inch Long detail brushes have the longest bristles at 2.5 inches.
Ironically, the brush with the longest bristles is also one of our smallest brushes. The Drillbrush 1 inch Long detail brush has the longest bristles of any Drillbrush product at 2.5 inches in length. Don’t let the name fool you, the brush is 1 inch in diameter, but the bristles are extremely long and can handle detailing jobs on complex surfaces.
The 1 inch brush was created to clean lug nuts on vehicles. The long tendril-like bristles of the 1 inch brush wrap around and engulf the lug as it scrubs, giving lug nuts a 360 degree clean!
Outside of lug nuts, the 1 inch brush is useful for cleaning inside large bottles, jugs, vases, and other containers with a small opening, especially in conjunction with one of our 5 inch or 7 inch extensions. At speed, the bristles fan out to cover more surface area, scrubbing the sides with ease.
This bristle fanning can also be used if you need to get into a groove or gap that’s too small for our wheel-shaped edge brushes. Spin the brush at speed in the drill to and tilt the brush sideways to get dirt and grime caught in the groove.
1 inch brushes are also adept at cleaning complex surfaces, like crown molding, ornate designs on furniture, faucets and sink fixtures, door knobs, and other miscellaneous cleaning tasks.
Other Brushes with Long Bristles
A Medium Blue Cone-shaped Brush
The 1 inch brush is a handy gadget, but at 1 inch diameter, it has a small surface area for scrubbing. If you need something larger, but with longer flexible bristles, here are some other options that you can try.
Our second longest bristles are found on the Cone-shaped corner brush. This brush is built for cleaning 90-degree corners and is unique among our products in that the bristles are trimmed to form a cone-shaped point. Bristles near the middle of the brush are 2 inches in length and then taper down until you reach the outermost bristles, which are 1 inch in length.
7 inch brushes have long bristles and a larger surface area.
In third place is Drillbrush’s largest scrub brush; the 7 inch industrial flat brush. This scrubber has 1.75 inch bristles and a massive 7 inch diameter for large-scale professional cleaning projects. These brushes are often used by custodial staff on office floors, carpet, and concrete surfaces. Coming in Soft, Medium, and Ultra Stiff bristles, these brushes can sweep away surface build up or chip away at heavy caked on messes.
Lastly, our 2 inch Long brush is a detailing scrubber that works similarly to the 1 inch Long. It has 1.5 inch bristles that can be used to weave around sink fixtures, ornate furniture, and other complex objects. The key differences between the 2 inch Long and 1 inch Long are a wider brush diameter for more coverage and shorter, more rigid bristles for harder to clean stains.
The Shortest Bristles on a Drillbrush Product is…
Drillbrush Edge brushes have three quarter inch length bristles.

There’s only one brush with a bristle length under 1 inch, and these types of brushes are special in just about every other way as well.
The wheel-shaped Edge brush has only a 0.75 inch bristles length. And while most of our brushes have bristles on one face of the brush or branching out from a central column, the Edge brush has bristles arranged around a thin ring on the outside of the brush. This design allows the brush to get into grooves and grates, especially grout lines on tile surfaces, channels in rubber car mats, and grills.
The longest and shortest bristles are available from Drillbrush in the same kit; the EES-1L. These kits feature two Edge brushes and a 1 inch brush for detailing. You can find them in various stiffnesses here.
How Bristle Stiffness is Affected by Bristle Length
Soft Long bristles like on the 1 inch brush are more flexible than stiffer bristles.

Drillbrush scrub brush uses flexible non-scratch nylon bristles on all of its brushes. These bristles are designed in several color-coded grades of stiffness, which are shown on our color chart. These range from Soft White to Medium Yellow, Green, and Blue, to Stiff Red and finally Ultra Stiff Black.
These stiffnesses help with a variety of cleaning tasks and can be picked and chosen depending on the situation.
Shorter bristles provide less give when scrubbing hard surface stains and crusted on substances, while longer bristles act more like a sweeper, brushing away loose substances and wrapping around structures.
So having a soft-bristled brush with long bristles means the bristles fray and fan easier, forming a fluffier brush. Soft short bristles have the give to go across fabric and carpeted surfaces without damage, but the rigidity to perform deep cleaning.
Long Ultra Stiff bristles on the other hand have a durable construction for cleaning tough messes on grill tops and concrete, but bend to provide extra flexibility when cleaning brick and porous surfaces. Lastly, an Ultra Stiff brush with short bristles is peak tough. No give, no bend, no mercy for messes.
